What the codes mean

The small print at the bottom of the Betrayers of Kamigawa card (#75).

75

  • 75Collector number: this card's place in the set list. Main-set cards print it over the set's card count.

Cards from 1998 to mid-2014 print the collector number over the set's card count (like 90/383) next to the copyright line. They have no rarity letter, set code or language code: the set symbol and its colour show the set and rarity.

How to read a Magic card: every part and code, on real cards.

Rulings (2)

  1. 2005-02-01

Ogre Marauder’s ability requires the defending player to sacrifice a creature as the ability resolves, or Ogre Marauder can’t be blocked for the rest of the turn.

  2. 2005-02-01

Attacking with Ogre Marauder a second time would cause a second trigger. If no creature was previously sacrificed, the Marauder already can’t be blocked. Sacrificing a creature for the second trigger will not nullify the first.
